UPCOMING PUBLICATION ALERT

Historical Maroonage is a book in progress that presents the subversion of biased historical narratives as a form of contemporary maroonage. It is an exploration of maroonage as a continuously evolving epistemology and as a liberatory practice of resistance against racism, anti-Blackness, and the historical erasure of Afrodescendant people in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.

This book project is being developed under the Get Fresh Books Publishing agency, founded by poet and essayist Roberto Carlos García.

UPCOMING PUBLICATION ALERT

"Historical Maroonage or how to subvert colonial narratives in identity formation through History telling today: Experiences of Mestizaje Disruption in the Caribbean"

This piece examines Mestizo as a category that blurs racial identity in the Caribbean, tracing the historical conventions that inform and reinforce the concept of Mestizaje. In contradiction, Ruth presents local efforts to reframe traditional historical analysis by centering the experiences of the racialized peoples bred from the margins of Santo Domingo.
